Siddhartha

Book Review by: Sharadc

Original Author: Hermann Hesse
This is a book for the seeker. A seeker of Truth . A seeker of Perfection . A seeker of Happiness . A seeker of God. It
is relevant for a seeker in any religion because it portrays the universal lament … What is the objective of this life? This book is set in ancient India . An India rich is spiritualism and also materialism . A young Brahmin boy who is well versed in the scriptures and the rites and rituals seeks the Universal Truth . He is not satisfied by what he learns from various Teachers and wants to seek God for himself. He feels himself to be superior to others who only live for the material comforts till he begins to realize that maybe he is the inferior one! He tries to enjoy life in all its diverse forms, seeking happiness but finding only temporary peace until he meets the Buddha . Still he is not satisfied and goes his own way , finally realizing the Truth which is quite different from his expectations.... A lovely book which will make you cry with joy as you travel with Siddhartha in his quest for God......
