The Alchemist

Book Review by: lizhaigh

Original Author: Paulo Coelho
Widely regarded as modern classic but don’t make the mistake of assuming it is set in the modern day. It is a modern fable
about an Andalusian shepherd boy called Santiago who travels from his home in Spain to Tangiers, and on to the Egyptian desert, where he has a fateful encounter with the alchemist.
He is searching for the fulfilment of his dreams only to discover they are at home all the time.
The Alchemist widely regarded as an inspirational spiritual read, I actually found it a simple easy to read story. Further on its plus side it’s only 175 pages long and fairly large print so if you fancy a classic that’s not too heavy going this is the one for you.
