The aim of this paper is to look into the aesthetic of sexuality, or eroticism, in the religious expression of the medieval
mystic, Julian of Norwich, as well as to account for the presence of the erotic in her 'shewings'. In so doing, the mechanism of the
mystic is also be explained from a psychoanalytic point of view.
