This paper discusses how George Orwell's book, "1984" illustrates and refracts the Marxist
criticisms of the potential social,
economic and political conditions of the future. It explains that, although Orwell was judging humanity as a whole in "1984", the undertones of Karl Marx's "ruthless
criticisms" are extremely prevalent. The paper concludes that although 1984 has come and gone, George Orwell's masterpiece has endured. This is due to the fact that the book is a comprehensive illustration of the belief and value systems of current issues in American
society.
