ABSTRACT - WAGNER, JOHN & ESQUERRA, CARLOS JUDGE DREDD – NECROPOLIS #1- 2003 Titan Books. 2000 AD the first of the epic Judge Dredd Graphic Novel compilations in the Necropolis story. Dredd, the best
cop in Mega
City One, where the police act as instant Judge, Jury & Executioner, has developed a conscience about the kind of justice he dispenses. Worse, his new rookie cop is Kraken, a cloned younger version of himself, bred initially for a life of crime, but taken in by the Judges once freed from his mentor, Judda. Kraken proves to be an able but ambitious cop, but Dredd senses his darker
old self still lies under the surface. Dredd decides to quit his job and leave his clone self-acting in the name of Dredd. The real Dredd goes off to the wilderness, planning never to
return. At this time, an old and evil enemy, Judge Death, decides to make a comeback. Judge Death has a vampiric nature and comes from a parallel Mega City world where it is considered to be a crime just to be alive. Death invades the Mega City of the Earth Judges, and through the Sinning Sisters, Phobia and Nausea, who interfere with the minds of the psychic Judges, like Judge Anderson, and prove to be powerful ghostly witches, through whom Judge Death first of all possesses an innocent woman called Xena (Nothing to do with the Warrior Princess of TV fame) and then begins to interfere with Judge Kraken-Dredd’s mind, converting him by degrees to his old evil ways. Judge Death is a truly terrifying invention, and the story has a large-scale sense of doom and damnation. Later, there is no doubt that Judge Dredd will return from exile to address the situation, as at present, the situation for Mega city One looks truly dire.
