This paper examines the character of Oedipus the King in the play by ancient Greek playwright, Sophocles. It shows the culture
of the audience of the time and discusses the overall plot of "Oedipus The King" to show that Oedipus was driven by
forces other than himself, these forces being fate and destiny.
