Hecuba is a secondary figure in Greek mythology, but is still a multi-faceted one. This paper uses Homer's "Iliad" 22.79-91 to elucidate who Hecuba was as a
woman. It attempts to show how although her
role as a mother is very central to her identity and role in literature, she is also an intelligent, emotional and pragmatic woman.
