question with a short history of the question and progress on it thus far. After dealing with the question of whether the "Odyssey" was composed by the same poet as that of the "Iliad", it addresses the question of the composition method and the place of the oral tradition in the Iliad's conception, placing great emphasis and analysis on the work of Parry and Lord. It seeks to find an answer to the question of whether the issues will be resolved.
