This paper discusses the similarities between certain
wedding and
funerary rituals of Athens by analyzing the
iconography of
ancient Greek
pottery and relating these ideas to those found in the Homeric "Hymn to Demeter". The paper includes direct quotes from the hymn, as well as images of ancient
vases that correspond with the text.
