The ABC’s of POD: A Beginner’s Guide to Fee-Based Print on Demand Publishing

Book Review by: Dr_Tami_Brady

Original Author: Dehanna Bailee
The ABC’s of POD: A Beginner’s Guide to Fee-Based Print on Demand Publishing explores the pros and cons of print on demand
publishing. The print on demand publishing method differs substantially from the traditional publication method. Most traditional publishers print a set number of books per order. Conversely, publishers using the print on demand method print one copy at a time using a digital template. This book explores topics such as differences between the two types of publishing as well as hidden costs, royalties, and editing challenges as pertains to both publishing methods. Various comments, critiques, and testimonials are also integrated throughout this book illustrating real life experiences with both traditional and print on demand publishers. In this way, a potential author can decide for him or herself whether he or she would prefer to use a traditional or print on demand publication method for his or her publication needs. The ABC’s of POD: A Beginner’s Guide to Fee-Based Print on Demand Publishing is a very well researched text. The topics are well thought out and are presented in a logical fashion. Moreover, the author has done an exemplary job of presenting a balanced text that includes both the benefits and drawbacks of print on demand publication versus traditional publication.
