Traces:
Birth of Alexander the Great is the second
book in the Son of the Bracelet
Series. This series is an alternate, fictional account of the life of Alexander the Great. The first book of this series, Before The Dawn of Alexander the Great, focused on the happening that occurred before Alexander was conceived. We learn that Olympias, the future leader’s mother, is a princess of Epirus and a descendent of Achilles. This woman’s story is mysterious and mystical. Olympias’ mother had been deemed “The Chosen of God” and had passed this legacy onto Olympias. It has been prophesized that she too would pass this inheritance to her son and in doing so his destiny would special. Like the first book in this series, Traces is told through the perspective of a
peddler turned physician named Daneion (renamed Wallis by Olympias). This man sees himself as nothing really
interesting or important. Despite this humble attitude, the peddler experiences a series of mystical experiences that lead him to his own unique destiny. Much of this book details the happenings and political upheaval that occur just before the actual birth of Alexander the Great. Amongst the most interesting situations are wide spread famine in which the peddler is instrumental in saving hundreds of people and the uncovering of horrifying plans set in place in case Olympias’ son were not a boy.
