Ms Karen Montgomery is the assistant director at a small town library in Ohio. You’d think her job would be rather quiet and uneventful, perhaps even a little boring. Not so for Karen, who on a daily basis deals with members of the Wild Hunt, Dragons, Water Hags, Dryads and other freed characters out of myth and legend. Between
trying to keep these strange characters existence a
secret from other mortals, giving them a chance to start a new
life, and keeping them from destroying each other Karen’s work is never done. The Secret of Redemption is a charming
book with several
unique concepts and ironic twists and turns. The characters in this story are unique individuals trying to live down their past actions while trying to start a new life in human form. In many cases, their choices are downright hilarious. In one such instance, a family of Water Hags that had spent their myth life capturing and eating
children gave up eating children and began a daycare. In another such instance, a Hound of the Wild Hunt stops hunting to tell faerie stories to children at library story time. Not only do these characters have to learn to
redeem themselves, in their own eyes, but also must learn to accept that others have the same potential to try and redeem themselves as well.
