Diana and Teddy Barrows are traveling in Pennsylvania on a raining night and take a deadly wrong turn that leads them to
strange old
castle. Like all great horror stories, the family does heed my warnings (yelled at the characters in the book as I read the text) that ancient looking houses with owners that look like Dracula are nearly always bad news. Staying the night in this kind of place is just asking for trouble. Sure enough… Castle of Death starts with a pretty time honoured formula for horror and adds then a fresh cast of characters that include witches, werewolves,
vampires, and other interesting individuals. Perhaps a bit over the top at times, which I thought added to the “we must have just imagined it” feel to the story.
