This paper analyzes the Duke of Buckingham in Shakespeare's "Richard III".The Duke was a clever,
power-hungry and ambitious opportunist who
supported the most dominant people in the country. When Richard was trying to be king of England, the Duke of Buckingham supported his evil schemes to punish the
innocent in order to seize power. Later, the Duke of Bucking showed intelligence, wisdom and compassion when he refused to support the killing of more innocent soul during Richard's reign.
