paper examines the use of
legitimacy as a
theme in the
play, "
King Henry IV," by William Shakespeare. The paper includes a discussion of the legitimacy of the king and his rule, as a well as a close look at Prince Hal. The paper contends that Henry's legitimacy becomes the center of all of the
major crises in the play and, thus, is a major and binding theme.
