Gender, Desire, and Repression in "Goblin Market"

Book Review by: AcaDemon

of the poem, sisters Lizzie and Laura, represent the dichotomy of Victorian female sexuality. Ultimately, the poem is deeply ambivalent about the demands of society upon expressions of gender and sexuality.
