The Biting Age

Book Review by: Dr_Tami_Brady

Original Author: Ernest Dempsey
So often in life, we go with the flow and never question the utter insanity of our situation or the world around us. At best,
we think about the absurdity of the circumstances or make a half hearted sarcastic remark. That’s why I love satirical literature. The satirist actually says those things that I think about, that I question, that happen in our world but with an edge of imagination and creativity that I could never hope to achieve. The Biting Age is a wonderful satirical work that examines a variety of themes- no topic is sacred. The subject matter is a mixture of sarcastic wit aimed at real life situations through exaggerated reality to fantastical creations. My favorites in this collection tend to include animals as the main focus. These characters exhibit their natural characteristics but have the ability to communicate, and in some cases defend their point of view, to humans. The result is not only extremely entertaining but also quite thought provoking.
