The present article aims to give the author's report on his primary application of the approach of the evaluation of
ecosystem services in
Wuyishan Scenery District according to the calculating methods given by Costanza et al. The results indicate that the total
value of ecosystem services in Wuyishan Scenery District was estimated to be 12.59×106 USD/a, in which the
ecological, economic and social values accounted for 79.67%,15.42% and 4.91%, respectively. The results show that Wuyishan Scenery District has obvious ecological function, and in the ecological benefits, nutrient cycling, water management, erosion control and deposit conservation and the climate regulation enjoy higher values. The ecosystem services value in Wuyishan Scenery District account for 0.001 444% of that of the whole country in China, in which water management, genetic resource, raw materials have relatively high contribution to the general national level, accounting for 0.006 443%, 0.005 785%, 0.005 325%. The ecosystem services in Wuyishan Scenery District were found to have changed during the period between from 1996 to 2001. The value of ecosystem services in the year of 2001, including forest, water area, cropland and so on, had reduced 1.94×105 USD/a than that of 1996. It is the forest value of ecosystem services that has changed most obviously,up to 2.03×105 USD/a in the 5 years, while the value of genetic resource, climate regulation, erosion control and deposit conservation, raw materials has changed greatest. This is only a conservative and lower
estimation for the ecosystem in Wuyishan Scenery District due to some uncertain factors and inaccuracy of methodology.
