Through an analysis of the
political platform of Russian Radical Populists, the article clearly explains the historical and inheritance ties between Bolshevism and Russian Populism. The
revolutionary radicalism of Russian Populism represented by Tkachev was one of three factions of Russian revolutionary Populism.Describing itself as the Jacob
Party, the faction was a revolutionary group under the influence of the revolutionary movement in the 1860s and seeking a new revolutionary outlet after the defeat of the movement to "go to the folks" in the 1870s. Out of fear for the capitalist "inflammation" to destroy the rural communes, the group
advocated instant "direct revolutionary action," and seizure of political
power through conspiracy and violence. To this end, it advocated the establishment of a concentrated and unified "revolutionary political party" in which the lower level was to be subordinate to the higher level, with serious discipline and preserving the absolutely secret single-line contacts. After seizing political power, the political party shall use the state power to renovate the
society and through transforming the commune where they use the
common production-tools and conduct common labor, shall lead the society directly into socialism. Revolutionary teacher Lenin and his comrades-in-arms once gathered the documentation and works of Tkachev from everywhere and conducted meticulous studies on them. He held that the writer was undoubtedly much closer to our viewpoints than any others.
