This
paper takes a look at the changes that Broadway, as a physical place, as well as a genre, has undergone since its inception,
in an attempt to understand why modern Broadway musicals are not doing as well as they had in earlier years. The
paper concludes that the diminishing popularity of Broadway today is due to both financial
reasons and audience-motivated reasons.
