This paper attempts to throw some light on the
issue of skills shortage and labour shrinkage, which is identified as a global issue. The study is limited to the U.K. hospitality industry due to the wide scope of the subject discussed. The actions taken by the government, commercial organisations, educational institutes and trade associations to tackle this problem are critically analysed and recommendations are made for corrective action to improve the approach towards solving this issue.
