This paper discusses how leadership theory is a complex and engaging field and how
people have been studying the
concept of leadership and organization for many years. It examines two somewhat opposing concepts of leadership. The first is a concept termed
situational leadership which is often used by corporations and companies and the second is
servant leadership which is more often implemented in volunteer organizations, churches and the
military. It looks at how the concept of situational leadership focuses on two elements, a concern for people and a concern for
task and how in contrast the philosophy of servant leadership revolves around those who make a conscious choice to serve above all else.
