Weight-training individuals attending a needle-exchange clinic, completed the Buss-Durke Inventory for hostility/ aggression,
and a feeling state questionnaire. Steroid usage consisted of high doses in 6-14 week cycles, with no steroids between cycles.
Ss reported significantly higher feelings of aggression, aggression toward objects, verbal aggression, and aggression during training. There was no aggression toward people during steroid taking. While on drugs there were significantly higher feelings of alertness, irritability, anxiety, suspiciousness, and negativism.
Implication
. Anabolic steroid ingestion can affect a wide range of psychological mood states.
