Wucheng's family,the novel presents the extreme corruption and the crumbling of capitalism and feudalistic family,and indi-
cates the feebleness of capitalistic ideology and the inevitability of domestic revolution.Meanwhile the novel also sees the arduous
work that we should do to shape(reconstruct)the culture of our nation.Moreover,more,the despair,distortion and agony of men
of letters and downfallen landlords in the special period of metamorphosis are also revealed in this novel.
