This
paper explores some of those reasons why, in spite of
dolphins being some of the most loved mammals in the world, they are still too often mistreated and abused. The paper also looks at some of the ways that many
people and governments have, in fact, attempted to help dolphins to varying degrees, as well as presents results from a small survey
taken to assess general attitudes toward dolphin protection efforts. The paper also formulates some conclusions about what other steps can be taken by people to minimize the harm we bring to this fine species. First, however, this paper describes some of the outstanding characteristics of dolphins so that the reader can understand what remarkable creatures they are.
