question of whether or not humans are the only creatures who dream. The writer uses the texts of Susanne
Langer to explore this
question and to argue that the human mind, born of dream figments, and nurtured by the
symbolism which the mind itself produces, has all the equipment it needs both for its own maintenance and, especially, its future growth and development.
