"Sisters and Strangers: Women in the Shanghai Cotton Mills"

Book Summary by: AcaDemon

This paper contains a critical book review of the title, along with a discussion of the personal value of the book. Emily
Honig's book is the story of women who worked in the Shanghai cotton mills from 1919 through 1949, but the paper shows how the story is really about the women themselves, and how they survived the harsh working conditions by creating a sisterhood - working together to help each other while surviving harsh and intolerable conditions.
