Thispaper discusses the social and political
conflict in Chinua Achebe's
novel "Things Fall Apart" with special reference
to Okonkwo's character. The leading character around, which the
novel revolves, is studied as a tragic figure and it is argued that the
conflict of cultures was indeed a tragedy for the man who previously held a powerful position in the Ibo society.
