This paper will compare the novel "1984" by George Orwell and the "Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. By understanding
the regimes that both of these people live under, a comparison can easily be made of the totalitarian governments that both these novels reveal in the characters and plot of their subject. The main essence of both of the books tell us the nature of a government that seeks to rule by complete control and does not let the human spirit be free, as in a democracy.
