This paper argues that Sandra Lee Bartky's opinions on the male-
female relationship, as put forth in her article "Emotional
Exploitations", puts the idea of gender equality back several generations. The paper accuses Bartky of skewing the whole male-
female relationship and of taking women back to the time when marriage vows still included the words "love, honor and obey".
