Iraq has reached a critical point and the strategy of relying on a political might of America to eliminate the insurgency
has failed. An adage that; victory for America is still an option in Iraq leaves a lot of question unanswered with the currently increased violence in different parts of Iraq.America, a country of 300 million people with a GDP of $12 trillion and more than 1 million soldiers and Marines, is thought to have the resources to stabilize Iraq, a state the size of California with a population of 25 million and a GDP under $100 billion, but all in vain.Being pessimistic that; the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) are entirely dependent upon American support to survive and function and that if U.S. forces withdraw now, the Iraqi forces will collapse, descending into total civil war that will rapidly spread throughout the Middle East, creates a state of fear to nationals.Agitation is growing in Congress for alternatives to the administration's strategy of keeping Iraq in one piece and getting its security forces up and running while 140,000 U.S. troops try to keep a lid on rapidly spreading sectarian violence. But, there need to understand that the United States has established no social contract with the Iraqi people and thus it has no authority to lead. Bush administration continues to maintain the mythology that those attacking American troops are a monolithic enemy spurred on by "external forces and earlier in 2006, President Bush announced on April 6, that they?re not going to be intimidated by thugs and assassins." Fighting in Iraq has widened and intensified dramatically, in that the U.S, has failed at all politics levels in pursuing policies that guarantee, a social contract with Iraqis, which is necessary for successful reconstruction to be established. The attacks in the Sunni Arab towns of Ramadi and Falluja bear all the cultural marks of revenge killings that have escalated out of control and the horrific mutilation of the bodies of the American workers on March 31 shows a desire not just to inhibit the United States, but to humiliate it, and to exact payment for deaths that have taken place in the past. The assumption of Bush officials such as the former, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, that Iraqis would magically bow to American leadership out of gratitude for freeing the country of Saddam Hussein, yield no good but a downtrodden Americas repute built for centuries. The American in order to secure loyalty must actively care for the conquered, but for America is something they’re unwilling or unable to do. U.S. Senator, Barack Obama, said that American troops have performed brilliantly in Iraq, but no American soldiers can solve the political differences at the heart of somebody else’s civil war? Hence introducing a plan of phased redeployment that can pressure the Iraqis to finally reach a political settlement and reduce the violence.America has tried to rule indirectly through a council of puppet Iraqis, and labeling all the attackers with a single set of adjectives hinders the creation of an effective defense, by blurring the lines that separate the attackers. What should be understood is that the situation in Iraq is warring and the United States must work with Iraqis neighbors; particularly, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Syria for the best path forward to stop the sectarian violence in the country.U.S. engagement with neighboring countries and linking issues to encourage their cooperation is one of the only viable ways forward rather than accusing the "highest levels" of Iran's government of supplying increasingly sophisticated roadside bombs to Iraqi insurgents.
