Tribute To George Best

Article Summary by: thescribe

Original Author: Anthony Woods

Mention Manchester United what pops into your head? The one and only George Best! A wizard with a soccer ball at
his feet. A unique genius naturally gifted with flair, and panache. He was the first player that made soccer entertaining. A branch of show business. How much would he be worth on the transfer market today? He mesmerised defenders with his body swerves. He turned them inside out, and left them falling all over the place flat on their backs. He would go around them once, and then do It again to entertain his audience. George was an enigma a one off. A visionary way ahead off his time. Sent to us from the soccer gods. A prophet for future players to try to emulate. However, how can they? You’ve either got it or, not. And wow! He had it in abundance. Watching George in full flight was akin to dancing with angels. He was a dream. Poetry in motion. George may be gone but, his legacy will live on forever in soccer archives. He gave me so much pleasure. Saturdays could not come round quick enough to watch this icon play. I could spout on forever about George. But, I will leave the last line to Tina Turner: “Your Simply The Best”
