I am opposed to the system of society in which we live today. I am not satisfied to make myself comfortable knowing
that there are thousands of my fellow men who suffer for barest necessities of life. We were taught under the old ethic that man''s business on this earth was to look out for himself. That was the ethic of the jungle, the ethic of the wild beast-take care of yourself, no matter what may become of your fellow man. Thousands of years age, the question was asked "Am I my
brother''s keeper?" That question has never yet been answered in a way that is satisfactory to civilized society. Yes, I am my brother''s keeper. I am under a moral obligation to him that is inspired not by any maudlin sentimentality but by the higher duty I owe myself. If I may ask! What would you think of me, if I were capable of seating myself at a table and gorging myself with food, saw the children of my fellow beings starving to death and do nothing? When we feel love and kindness towards others, it not only makes others feel loved and cured for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed and where individuals and nations are free. I feel no need for any other faith that my faith in the kindness of human beings for kindness has converted more sinners that zeal, eloquence or even preaching. This is my simple religious. There is no need for temples, no need for complicated
philosophy. Our brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. When you carry out art of kindness you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something inside your body responds and says yes, this is how I ought to feel. Abandon every proselytizing zeal on behalf of political and religious idols and be your brother''s keeper. Literary, any outdated piece of ideological furniture, in the name of ethic, must be discarded, abandoned and completely avoided.
