This paper examines the life and work of the American inventor and writer Benjamin Franklin and why he was
considered a "true
patriot." It shows how he was
considered a loyalist and a
sympathizer with England, even though he was the only American to sign all four documents creating the new American Republic and he deeply loved the United States. He was often controversial and disliked, but in the end, his vision and understanding of the political process and ambassadorship made him one of the best-loved Americans in France and the United States.
