This
paper is written about the foundations of
western civilization. This paper will look at some selected defining characteristics of the West that can be traced back to four of these contributing periods of human history ---- ancient, early church, Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. An attempt will be made to explain as to why these are amongst some of the most important contributors to the development of Western civilization.
