This paper examines the idea of the
imperial presidency. It looks specifically at the presidencies of Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, in which the powers of the office were routinely abused and turned to the personal and private interests of the presidents themselves. It concludes that each of these men was, quite distinctly, an imperial president.
