idea of Manifest Destiny, or
territorial expansion. Manifest Destiny was the
idea that God had ordained that the American people spread from sea to shining sea, starting by annexing Texas or Oregon, or both. This paper examines the political views of this time pertaining to the policy and the events surrounding the annexation of territories.
