paper looks at the Yiddish
language, which originated in Eastern Europe and was brought to the Western World towards
the end of the 19th century. The writer includes a history of the
language and shows which Yiddish words have become common used words in the English language today. Finally, the
paper offers some data collected by a study at Columbia University about the dialect.
