cholesterol esterase, cholesterol oxidase and horseradish peroxidase) with other necessary stabilizer and non reactive reagents are present in a highly water absorbing cellulose matrix. An applied voltage of -125mV provides added sensitivity and precision. The cholesterol biosensor only requires one drop of blood (≥25μl). Red blood cells are excluded by a blood separation membrane allowing only plasma to penetrate into the reaction center. Test results are displayed on an electronic meter after 60 s. This biosensor can directly measure cholesterol at the level range of 2~10 mmol/L (90~400mg/L),covering normal and abnormal ranges in humans. The handheld, battery operated compact unit is specifically designed for ease carry and commercialization and will benefit to the Coronary Risk Assessment Program for the general public.
