The Amazing Grand Canyon

Website Review by: Mary Rose

Grand CanyonThe Grand Canyon has captivated many people with its spectacular views and vastness.  Many people flock
to catch a glimpse of this intriguing scenery.  Without disappointment, this astounding place overwhelms every first time visitor and continues to stay in the minds of those who had seen it.  Indeed, no photograph or description can truly show the vastness of this great place.
Due to the enormity of the place, most of the visitors struggle to capture the best view they could find.  As they move from one viewpoint to another, they try to obtain the finest view that could help describe the entire place.  The visitors usually stay for about two to three hours in the canyon, spending their time enjoying the stunning views and great surroundings.  Besides viewing the place, you can choose to involve in some activities and have a better experience of the place.  For example, you can hike or ride a mule to travel along the trails in the canyon.  You can also choose to stay in one of the camps at the campgrounds.
The South Rim is more popular and has more visitors than the North Rim.  One of the reasons is that it is easier to get to the South Rim than the North Rim.  Another reason is that the South Rim provides more visitors’ facilities.  These facilities are mainly housed in Grand Canyon Village at the South Rim.  Most of the lodges and restaurants are also found there.  Traveling along the roads on both rims, visitors can enjoy astounding views from designated viewing spots at strategic locations.  There are hiking trails that starts from both the South and North Rims down into the canyon.  If you want to, you can hike from one rim to the other.  It takes at least about two days to complete the journey.
At the South Rim, there are usually huge crowds of visitors during summer.  At winter, it becomes a more quiet and peaceful place.  The North Rim has significantly fewer visitors than the South Rim and is much cooler.  The North Rim is usually closed during winter, from mid-October to mid-May.
