“Ethics” what does this word means what is it related to?
Ethics means a code of conduct or the unwritten law that
a man is suppose to follow. Ethics is not simply a word it is the basic discipline expected to follow by the
society.
The dictionary
meaning of it is “Ethics (from the Ancient Greek ἠθικός or "ethikos" meaning "Theory of living") is one of the five major branches of philosophy, which attempts to understand the nature of morality; to distinguish that which is right from that which is wrong. The Western tradition of ethics is sometimes called moral philosophy. Ethics in plain words means studying and analyzing right from wrong; good from bad.”
But to some great people it means higher than just a word Albert Einstein once said
“I do not believe in the immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern without any superhuman authority behind it.”
Here is a question I ask to my self and to you all, in today’s world what does ethics mean or have we forgotten the real meaning of it?
In today’s world people only hear this word in their pocket dictionary. We have seen crimes from the sating of our human race but still we talk of ethics. Ethics means to distinguish between the right and wrong so how far the right is right let me take the classic example
If there comes a man who is beaten up very badly he comes to you and tells you his whole story and then says that there are men after him and they want to kill him and he requests you to mislead them the way.
What would you do here?
As the ethical part is considered you will help him and give the men the wrong direction, but what if the man who was running from them was a convict him self what would you do?
Some questions do not have any answers they stay as questions but if you are a philosopher you can not agree to it you have to give a answer, but science can only help us in some extent. Then we can just say or make our decisions depending on what the society thinks because after all man is also a social animal. People do all of stuff to maintain a social image in the society. So can we say that we do what ever necessary so stay ethical. It is very necessary for us to under stand the real truth and the meaning.
