In today’s Sun Newspaper in the United Kingdom., they ran an article about how the
promoters of Kylie Minogue’s
concert in London
tickets are cancelling the orders of people who are then selling them on Ebay.
Quote The Sun Online
Top promoter Harvey Goldsmith yesterday went one step further and demanded eBay stop selling all concert tickets in the battle against
touts.
He said: “eBay are an absolute disgrace. They have no right to be doing what they are doing.
“They are a thorn in the side of this industry. Every time we do a show we have to track eBay down, we have to find the seats and we cancel them. We will continue to do so.”
As many will know Ebay policies do allow for this to occur I myself have found many a ticket on Ebay for a good price and I have sold tickets for Guns N Roses concert on there as well.
Sometimes the tickets that are sold are done so by ticket touts who are trying to make a lot of money, but also there is odd sale on Ebay done by a
genuine seller who bought 2 tickets and for some reason or another have to sell them on.
Many have to do this as the
Promoter or the venue will not refund the price of the tickets and resell them and on many a
Ticket there is a term that you can not sell your tickets onto someone without the prior permission of the promoter.
But you can always spot the genuine from the ticket touts. As many genuine ones will start the bidding low and perhaps have a reserve of the amount they paid.
Ticket touts will always have a starting bid near the price of the tickets and many times have an absurd reserve price because they want to get a lot of profit.
So be weary when checking Ebay for tickets, the listings always give the seller away
I believe that the promoters tactics in this case are absurd and while they are trying to stop the ticket touts they will also affect a person like me who bought 6 tickets for a group of friends and two have had to drop out.
So if any of you are in a dilemma such as this what do you; do you
Place them on Ebay and have the promoters cancel your entire order
or
Do you lose the money that you spent for the tickets for the promoters to pocket without anyone enjoying the concert
Either allow us to sell them on Ebay fairly or provide refunds for unwanted tickets
Which is it going to be?
