Moving on towards the mountains you arrive to Ojén, 65 kilometers from Malaga, a romantic place that is almost untouched by tourism. The Mirador de Juanar , a view-point, offers a fantastic panorama, and the orange woods of Valle de los Naranjos are truly picturesque.
At a distance of just 16 kilometers there is another almost unknown "pearl" of this region, Casares.
During the third week of August there is the traditional Feria de Verano, with Flamenco-music, people in regional dresses and an exposition of the most beautiful horses.
What to eat: But Malaga's perhaps most famous recipe is another variation of those cold soups or Gazpachos, which are that typical for all Andalusia: Ajo Blanco is a fine cream of almonds, garlic and olive-oil.
The sweets mostly show Moorish influence and are frequently prepared of almonds and honey. Among the best known are those very popular Christmas-cakes, Alfajores and Polvorones, and a regional speciality with a quite promising name: "Bienmesabe" means simply that tastes good.
