Gav has served for nine years and issues as the editor of the popular Manchester FONTzine, an annual science fiction fanzine produced by FONT, a respected science fiction group that Gav belongs to. cover work by Gav’s mate SMS, are presented in their entirety on Gav’s pages. On the Blog itself, Gav writes
articles that are both highly technical and relatively straightforward enough for us non-geeks to be able to follow the gist of what he is saying. There is a vein of good humour throughout his
presentations that prevents them from ever becoming boring; there are also many helpful links to the sites of other science fiction
fans and computer generation people. Fans of Team Fortress type games will be in their element browsing through Gav’s writing’s. His articles on cover a diverse range of themes and topics such as his anger at the corruption of the US Presidency, and especially with George Dubya Bush. There are features on Jasper Computer programming (whatever that is); the entry for 12th June 2005
offers a radical reassessment of the Star Wars Movie franchise, which is extremely entertaining, (the article rather than the more recent film prequels). There are reports on major science fiction conventions, such as Worldcon and Easter on, which Gav and other FONT folk attend, and he offers a touching response to the flood tragedy in New Orleans. Gav’s presentations come across as witty, dry, sensitive and humane. For all of its geekiness, the blog has a lot of soul behind it.
