This paper
examines how social
movements come and go, but their after-effects frequently continue to shape the course of
a society for a long time. In particular, it reviews the impact of the civil rights movement on campus-based student
movements and politics during the 1960s in America and
examines their respective contexts as social movements. Finally, it assesses the long-term implications for American society.
