OBJECTIVE:This study is intended to develop a low toxic and non addictive Chinese traditional medicine preparation that
possess of definite
analgesic and antitumor activities.METHODS AND RESUETS:1.Clinical observation:Of the 36 advanced cancer patients with acute pain,the
effective and significant effective rates of the plaster were found to be 94 and 55.4 percent respectively,and no addictive as well as no injury of the liver or the kidney were found in patients after the application of the plaster for six mouths.2.Animal studies:① Analgesia:The application of the plaster produces quick effectiveness (10 minutes)which lasts more than 60 minutes in pains caused by formaldehyde.② Detumescence:In mouse ototumefaction caused by crouton oil, the inhibitory rate was 35.5%,which lower than that of cortisone (50.6%),it is reliable in relieving aseptic inflammations.③ Bacteriostatic experiments:The MIC of the bactreiostasis of the plaster is 2.5 μg/ml for staphylococci,bacillus coli,klebsialla pneumonia,hemolytic streptococci ,etc.④ Studies on the analgesic effect of the oral powder:The powder,when administered to animals for three to five days at the dosage of 1.0～2.0/(kg·d) ,produces evident effect on abdominal twitch caused by antimony potassium tartrate.CONCLUSION:Both clinical and animal studies show that this carcinoma pain plaster(powder) is effective in relieving pain,extincting inflammation.
