AIM: To study the regulatory effects of Baobao le on
gastric antrum and cholecystokinin (CCK) in anorexia model of juvenile
rats. METHODS: The rat
anorexia model, made by simulating the mechnism of children anorexia, was treated with Baobaole and the levels of
gastric antrum and CCK in hypothalamous, antrum pyloricm, and plasma of the model were examined by radioimmunoassay (RIA) and compared with those of the group treated by Erbao Granules. RESULTS: The results showed that the gastric antrum level of model rats decreased in antrum pylorium ( P <0.05) , but no change was observed in plasma. The CCK level in the hypothalamus and plasma of model rats showed a significant increase ( P<0.05, P < 0.01) . The gastrin and CCK levels of the two groups treated by Baobaole and Erbao Granules were normal but the Baobaole group made a more significant decrease in hypothalamic CCK level than Erbao group ( P <0.05). CONCLUSION: Baobaole can regulate the secretion and release of gastrin and CCK in central and peripheral areas and may play an important role in inhibiting the secretion and release of CCK in our model hypothalamus.
