ObjectiveTo investigate the antitumor and
antioxidant activities of various dosage of ethanol extract of R.confervoides(EERC)
on mice.MethodsThe half lethal dose(LD_(50)) of EERC was estimated by Horn assay.Sarcoma-180 mice were used to evaluate the antitumor
activities in vivo of EERC(Cytoxan as positive drug). The
antioxidant activities of EERC were detected on mice. The oxidative DNA damage of peripheral lymphocytes induced by H_2O_2 was analyzed by SCGE.The concentration of superoxide dismutase(SOD),malonyl dialehyde(MDA) in blood plasma were detected with the test kit.ResultsThe EERC showed low toxicity with its LD_(50) more than 3 160 mg/kg.The tumor inhibition ratios of supplement groups were significantly higher than the blank group. There was a significant decreasing tendency of the oxidative DNA damage on peripheral lymphocytes in the 25 mg/kg supplement group induced by 10 μmol/L H_2O_2.The level of SOD in the 25 mg/kg supplement group was more than the control group, while its MDA was less than the control group.ConclusionThe EERC is safe to be taken orally and can obviously inhibit the sarcoma-180.The 25 mg/kg EERC can protect the animal from oxidative damage.
