Bangladeshi national killed in India security forces fired
NAOGAON, July 18:–Indian
border security force shot a Bangladeshi national at Bamonpara border of Sapahar upazila leading to exchange of fire between BDR and BSF on Monday, reports UNB.(Bangladesh observer)
Locals said Tozammel Haq Kalu (48), a cattle trader, died on the spot. He and 7 or 8 others were going to Bamonpara border from Sapahar early in the morning when BSF of Naiorkuri
outpost fired upon them. The
body of Tozammel was dragged away by the BSF jawans.
Protesting the killing BDR asked for returning the body. But BSF of Naiorkuri outpost resorted to unprovoked fire at Bamonpara outpost of BDR in the afternoon. BDR returned the fire.
Tension gripped the area as BDR and BSF sounded red alert all along the 179km border of the district and mobilized additional troops and artillery. Local BDR commander Lt Col Zahid Hasan confirmed the incident. He said they were ready to face any eventuality.
