The Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti was born after the dissolution of the Orchestra Scarlatti RAI. On 21st March 1993 dated its debut at the Auditorium RAI (Italian Radio and Television Broadcasting) in Naples, with a
concert conducted by John Neschling, transmitted by the national broadcastings Radiotre and RAITRE.
Since 1994 the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti has carried out several activities: festivals and concert seasons in Naples and in other towns in Campania as, for example, the
festival Barocco e… (nine editions) and a Concert season at the Teatro Garibaldi in S.M. Capua Vetere (Caserta); many concert tours through important Italian and foreign cities: from Rome to Belgrade, Geneva, Nottingham, Luxembourg, Berlin, Saint Petersburg, and so on.
The Orchestra repertory ranges from the baroque to the contemporary music, with first performances of pieces by Ivan Vàndor, Giacomo Manzoni, Ennio Morricone, etc.
A specific aim of the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti is spreading worldwide the Naples'
musical heritage. Some of the greatest achievements in that way were: the first modern performance of the Paisiello's opera "Nina ossia la pazza per amore" (Leuciana Festival); the Domenico Cimarosa's cantata; "Il trionfo della fede" made in collaboration with Roberto De Simone in March 1999; the "Concerto per Caterina II di Russia" at the Ermitage Theatre of Court in Saint Petersburg, on 15th October 2003 (a program of eighteenth century Napolitan
music by Roberto De Simone); a tour in Lebanon by appointment of the Italian Institute of Culture in Beirut, in June 2004; the participation to Mozart's Ratto del Serraglio at Villa Favorita in Herculaneum (conductor: Leopold Hager) last year in July.
The Orchestra has also a busy activity of musical meetings for the youth, marked by a formula specially suitable for it and that has been already tested together with thousands of children.
During its activity the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti has also collaborated with great musicians like Krzysztof Penderecki, Lu Jia, Roberto De Simone, Aldo Ciccolini, Laura De Fusco, Katia Ricciarelli, and, apart from classic music, with popstars like Lucio Dalla, Franco Battiato, Goran Gregovic, Dionne Warwick, Noa, and Andrea Bocelli.
The Orchestra has recorded live for the Nuova Era the first modern performance of the opera "Amor vuol sofferenza" conducted by Daniele Giulio Moles (Martina Franca Festival). For RAI SAT it has recorded some musical programs ranging from Rossini to Respighi, and for the Japanese NHK a CD and a TV programme about the Italian music of the nineteenth century.
